A pinhole camera, or camera obscura, works by using a small pinhole to project light onto the film. With no lens involved, the camera has infinite depth of field, meaning everything stays in focus with a soft, dreamlike quality. If you're looking to capture photos that are a little unpredictable and unlike anything you'd get with a smartphone, this camera offers that experience. Without a lens, you can expect photos with a distinct, ethereal charm.

All our MezzaLuna pinhole cameras use standard 120 film. The frame size for this camera is 6x6, which gives the model its name: the “66.” For comparison, the “69” model features a wider 6x9 frame and will get a few fewer shots per roll of film.

Both of the Mezzaluna cameras (which means "half moon" in Italian) have a curved film plane. This ensures an equal distance from the pinhole to all points on the film plane, creating more even light distribution and a more consistent exposure across the image. A flat plane camera like our Ranica will show a bit more edge distortion and vignetting, which some people also love. Both styles are fun to play with, and it's more about personal preference.

This camera is mercifully free of screens, batteries, or cables. You wind the film and open and close the shutter yourself, adding to the tactile experience of each shot.

Equipped with a standard threaded hole for tripod mounting, a frame counting system with a sliding door, a magnetic cover that doubles as the shutter, and a F/140 pinhole (look closely because it's small), this camera offers a very hands-on photography experience.
