The drawing paper, called "HS Gaou," is suitable for pencil, pen, watercolor or crayon. The paper is heavyweight. The cover features Penco's signature design with two-color letterpress printing. The back cover is made of thick board, making it easy to draw even when holding the sketchbook in your hand.

The off-white drawing paper has a soft touch with a moderately textured surface. It absorbs well and dries quickly, making it ideal for watercolor. The texture is not too deep, and the surface is strong, making it resistant to fraying when using an eraser.

The heavy paper stock is durable and resistant to tearing, with the added benefit of minimal warping when using wet paints.
